Frequently asked questions
How does the wheel/throwing class work?
Over the duration of this 2.5 hour class, you will start with a ball of clay and learn how to wedge it, center, open, and shape your item into a cylindrical and functional piece of pottery.
Will I take my items home the day of my class?
No. Pottery is not a quick process. It will take anywhere from 8-14 weeks for your pieces to be trimmed, inscribed with your initials, slowly dried, bisque-fired (kiln #1), glazed , and glaze-fired (kiln #2) - the process that turns raw clay into high-refractory food-, oven-, and dishwasher-safe pottery that will last forever!
What will I make in my wheel classes?
Our teacher will start you off with a simple bowl, so that you can learn the technique. After successfully making by your bowl, we will assist you in making whatever comes to mind: vases, planters, mugs, etc.
How do I schedule the complete process series?
You will book your first class (throwing) online, then the second (trimming) with your teacher at the end of your first class. That is because the second class needs to happen within 10 days of your throwing. Your third class (glazing) will be scheduled via email. We will contact you once your items have been bisque fired.
How do I book a group class?
We can host small groups here at the studio. Just send us an email with details and we will get back to you.
Do you want to do something that you don’t see on the website?
We can do lots of pottery classes! Do you want to try 2 class types in one class? Or do you have an odd number of students? Send us an email, we would love to accomadate you!
