Frequently asked questions

How does the Couples Wheel class work?

Over the duration of this 2 1/2 hour class, you will start with a ball of clay and learn how to wedge it, center it, opening it up, and shaping it into a cylindrical and functional piece of pottery.

Will I take my items home the day of my class?

No. pottery is not a quick process. It will take anywhere from 8-14 weeks for your pieces to be trimmed, labeled, dried, bisque-fired (kiln #1), glazed in the color you selected, and glaze-fired (kiln #2) - the process that turns raw clay into high-refractory pottery that will last forever!

Is there parking available at the studio?

Whereas there is not a dedicated parking lot, there is plenty of metered street parking along Eastern Ave, and some non-metered on surrounding streets.

What will I make in my wheel classes?

Whatever comes to mind! Our teachers will start you off with a simple bowl, so that you can learn the technique, but after that you are open to whatever you have in mind: vases, planters, mugs, etc.

How do I schedule the complete process series?

You will book your first class online, then the second with your teacher at the end of your class. That is because the second class, trimming, needs to be scheduled within 10 days of your first class. Your glazing session will be scheduled once your items have been bisque fired.
